In Memory of Dr. John Bergström
1935 – 2026

Dear Friend of Bergström Wines,

On Friday, April 17th at 12:30, our family said goodbye to the remarkable man who helped shape not only our lives, but also the spirit of Bergström Wines.

Dr. John Ove Bergström peacefully concluded a beautiful 90-year journey defined by courage, generosity, curiosity, and compassion. An immigrant, surgeon, mentor, father, grandfather, and dreamer, John touched and inspired generations of patients, friends, fellow immigrants, vintners, skiers, teachers, and all those fortunate enough to know him.

Long before Bergström Wines became what it is today, John believed deeply in the promise of hard work, stewardship, family, and creating something meaningful to share with others. Whether helping plant vines, working alongside us during harvest, sharing stories around the table, or offering quiet words of encouragement, his presence has always been woven into the fabric of this estate.

He taught us to approach life with humility, optimism, resilience, and heart — and to never be afraid of dreaming big.

One of his favorite expressions was: “If you don’t swing for the fences, how will you ever hit a home run?”

As we continue caring for these vineyards and welcoming you to this special place, we carry his spirit with us every day.
